"Military leaders forsee Iraq exit in 2016" www.washingtontimes.com/national/20060717-124948-7563r.htmThis article details the findings of an Army commanders' seminar in Fort Carson. Apparently, the meeting can be summed up in this way: the mainstream media doesn't want to report all the amazing progress in Iraq and things are going so well that we're going to have to stay for TEN MORE YEARS?! "We are clearly winning the fight against the insurgents, but we are losing the public relations battle, both in the war zone and in the States" No, a "clear win," asshole, would be a liberated Iraq where people have opportunity, safety, and some hope for the future. A "clear win" isn't evidenced by reading the headlines everyday and seeing that dozens more are being killed by US military, security forces, death squads, and resistance fighters. And as long as we OCCUPY this country, we will only see the worsening of these problems, as the OCCUPATION has been implicated again and again (in polls, in the statements of resistance fighters, in the recent elections, etc.) as the primary problem. So people...let's do these numbskull commanders a favor and get them out much before 2016 so they can see what a "clear win" actually looks like: a healing Iraq without occupation.
